The Gate Claim a Victory
Margate entered their final tournament of the season, the FA Challenge Trophy, on Saturday with an away match against Wivenhoe Town FC. The Dragons play a rung below the Gate in the Isthmian Division One North league and sit in 5th place, 6 points behind table leaders Harlow Town - "Did you recognise your block across the square, over there?"
Margate won the encounter by a 3-1 margin. A much better result than we are used to seeing lately! Let's hope it's a sign that the club is turning back in the right direction.
The FA Trophy is open to clubs from the Football Conference, Southern League, Isthmian League, and Northern Premier League.

Congratulations to Ottawa St. Anthony Soccer Club
Veering slightly off point to congratulate a local amateur squad that has reached the heights -- from their web site:
Well done lads.
Congratulations to Ottawa St Anthony Men Premier for becoming the first Ottawa team to win a Men's National Club Championship. This team had a spectacular season capturing the Ottawa title, the Ontario Cup Championship, the Canadian Soccer League Open Canada Cup, and now the Canadian National Championship. A season for the record books.
Well done lads.

Bad Spell Continues
Following the Cup defeat Margate continue to stumble as they gave up a 2 goal lead and fell to Billericay Town FC 3-2 in a Tuesday night away fixture. The Gate slide below Billericay in the standings to 11th out of 22 teams.
FA Cup Disaster
And just like that the run is over after a 2-1 loss to Potters Bar Town FC.
Now it's the FA Trophy or naught.

League Winless Streak Continues
Margate FC dropped their fourth straight league match without a win, losing 1-0 to Heybridge Swifts. Their second loss of the season drops Margate to 6th place and puts them 6 points behind leaders Bromley.
One streak we would like to see them continue is the FA Cup run which resumes this Saturday against Potters Bar Town.
