The Gate Claim a Victory
Margate entered their final tournament of the season, the FA Challenge Trophy, on Saturday with an away match against Wivenhoe Town FC. The Dragons play a rung below the Gate in the Isthmian Division One North league and sit in 5th place, 6 points behind table leaders Harlow Town - "Did you recognise your block across the square, over there?"
Margate won the encounter by a 3-1 margin. A much better result than we are used to seeing lately! Let's hope it's a sign that the club is turning back in the right direction.
The FA Trophy is open to clubs from the Football Conference, Southern League, Isthmian League, and Northern Premier League.

Ah, my ignorance is showing! Is there another besides the Kent Senior Cup that they are still in the running for?
Not that I can think of at this late hour.
Cynically, how about the "Clasping defeat from the jaws of victory over the ground" cup/trophy/shield.
Or, the "How can 700 go into 57000" Floodlight Cup.
The "Keith Piper" Memorial Trophy would be my favourite!
